Energy Crisis, an Introduction

Talking about energy management means related to energy needs in the present and future energy supplies. It means the necessary of long-term planning in the management of national energy where described in the Blueprint of National Energy Management. But in the running  of this program, there are some problems that inhibit the achievement program itself. It affects the energy crisis which influence the condition of society. An example of primary energy problems can be seen from the case such as increasing in electricity tariffs in force in july 2010 and is planned to happen again in 2011. This happens because several factors as shown in Figure 1.

Related with this problem, the renewable energy for effort of optimization energy is needed. The potensial of renewable energy which developed in indonesia is Geothermal energy because Indonesia has a lot of geothermal supply. Beside that, the geothermal energy management isn’t related to levels of fluctuating world energy market price. It can be happened because the geothermal energy itself isn’t a commodity like oil or gas. The potental area of geothermal energy development based on ministry of energy and mineral resources can be seen in Figure 2.

Until today, the using of geothermal energy is still low because some factors such as the legal certainty of investment that hasn’t been clear as the value of electricity sales, the high of investment costs that investors must taken, and the risks that may results in development of geothermal energy infrastructure. The utilization of geothermal energy that still low make some difficulties in facing the energy crisis that occurred at this time. It means that we need  a policy in the near future for preparing it like infrastructure of shifting energy from oil to gas. In the other hand, the purpose of this program is to ensure the achievement of energy mix that listed in the 2025 National Energy Management Blueprint.

Shifting energy use from oil to gas today is very important because the problems itself affect the stabilization of state budgeting in subsidize energy. For example the budget which can be used to develop the renewable energy wouldn’t meet because the budget itself is used as a subsidy to buy the oil from international market which is too expensive.

Selection of natural gas as a substitute for oil in the near future due to still pretty much potential and there are gas reserves in Indonesia. Besides, the management of the gas is not good, so needs a revamping in the near future to address the energy crisis that occurred in Indonesia today.

Spread Your Wings

New year is one of momentums that we will pass by. Here, we should evaluate everything that we’ve done. We can see what we’ve got and what we’ve lost then make the past experiences into the precious ones to face the future in ourlives.

It makes us more ready to meet problems coz we also know how to approach the problems itself. We will have steps ahead to solve it then we will get that the problems will be solved with our hand. But, the problems that will come to us is not only same. It will be different from the past experiences. So..we must find the way to solve it. But, sometimes, We will have hard feeling to face it, it’s okey while we have the spirit to finish it by ourselves. The problem comes when we give up with the problem itself. It means “we have died before we try with everything that we have”.

being a good person, we must prepare to face the problems. One of preparations that we must have is “spreading up our wings”. with this “wings” we can fly higher to see the whole problem then we can focus for the detail. this approach give us the priority to solve the problem. Besides, we can make it sure that the problem will be finished step by step.

Give Something Back!

Give something back means that we give something after we take something from somewhere. It seems just only simple words but actually it has bigger impact than we have thought. Sometimes, people don’t really understand about this because normally, many people think what they got because their effort and didn’t think about giving something deeply. It means that when we give more to others, our opportunities will be decreased. The effect is we only have a few capital to get more opportunities in the near future.

In the context of business, Giving something back has different effect from what we thought. Also we know this thing with the social venture network or Corporate Social Responsibility. We know that when we give something to others means that we have opportunity lost. But actually, it has great impact in the future. This method can develop the sustainability for places where we got the opportunity. Many companies has used this method to driven their business.

Being socially minded does give the company an edge, we can get the other message across there’s also benefit to the local community. Perhaps giving away all our profits isn’t what we had in mind. After all, the idea doesn’t appeal to large numbers of people in business. Eventhough, it’s enough to add value through the product or services that we provide and to operate in ways that consistent with company’s values. But thinking that, giving something back may not be the main of strategy to the business models. It’s just one of many ways to integrate company’s values into their business. So.. the other things that we will get are only extra.
